Soooo.. we finally did it, we took the time and took LeMel to the beach for the very first time. I know, i know - I can hear you guys now telling me - Melissa, LeMel turned a year in May and this is his first time at the beach? Yes guys -- sheeeh. I mean hes been to the pool and has been to a resort but this was his actual first time at the beach! We of course had originally had plans to take him on a big vacation this year so he could experience - but the dreaded PANDEMIC happened so ex-nay on the vacay.
Anyway, we checked the weather and noticed that it was going to be a nice hot saturday and it wouldn't be raining (RARE for Florida summer) and cocoa beach is only about an hour from our new house so we said - why not. We hopped in the car and took the drive -- i will say it was a bit sad because you pass the cruise port on the way to the pier and no ships were there - so it was a very sad sight to see.
Once we got to the pier, watching LeMel's expression as he stepped on to the sand for the first time was priceless. I think he was a bit confused at first because the ground is not sturdy so he was a bit wobbly walking onto the sand but once he got the hang of it there was no stopping him. We ended up getting an umbrella and 2 chairs because we didn't have any of those items - we had only brough our beach towels, but we have decided that we definitely need to purchase or own & a beach wagon so that we can just go to the beach and not have to worry about finding shade. Of course with any baby/toddler's time at the beach - LeMel decided that tasting sand was something he should do... needless to say there was sand everywhere in every crevice - so that was a joy to experience when we got home.
We spent a good 3 hours there - we had lunch on the pier at a grill that was there -- had some frozen drinks. Melvin got wings and fries of course (because if you know anything about my husband he only eats chicken tenders - lol, I'll have to tell you more about that another time.) We got chicken tenders and fries for LeMel and I had a blackened grouper sandwich (it was soooo good). We posted a video of our adventures on our youtube channel so you can feel free to check it here.
I can't wait or us to be able to go back to the beach again and experience some more fun times as a family. We really had a great time and the joy on my son's face as we were jumping in the waves is one that i hope to create time and time again. What are some things you all like to do and experience as a family? Share with me down below.
